Satin corsets

Satin corsets are intensly elegant. Satin is a fabric that tends to have a glossy front and a dull back. Satin is a warp-dominated weave that has a minimum number of interlacings in a fabric. Fabrics formed with a satin weave using filament fibres such as polyester, nylon and silk are called satin. If the fabric is formed with a yarn such as cotton then it is considered a sateen.

Satin fabrics normally have a high lustre because of the high number of floats, or missed interlacings, on the fabric which gives a beautiful sheen on a satin corset. The floats tend to make the fabric look glossier as well as give it a smoother surface.

Satin is commonly used in clothing such as women's lingerie, evening gowns and pointe shoes for ballet. The satin corset is probably the highest form of the use of satin.
